A Kansas resident could continue driving on a limited basis while paying off traffic tickets under a bill considered by a Senate committee.

The Judiciary Committee heard testimony Tuesday on a bill allowing the limited licenses, which would cost $25. People receiving the licenses would have to pay off their fines within one year. And the only driving they could do would be to go to and from work.

One supporter is Sedgwick County District Judge Phil Journey, who told the committee that once the fines were paid, a driver's license without restrictions would be reinstated.
