Kansas Stands To Benefit From Stimulus Plan

An $819 billion federal stimulus package that has won House approval includes big money for Kansas.

The vote was 244-188.

The office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has provided some details about what Kansas could receive. The amounts are subject to change when the Senate passes its version of the bill and before a final bill is signed into law.

The bailout includes $317.2 million for highways and bridges, $26.1 million for mass transit, $52.4 million for wastewater treatment and sewers, $162.2 million for school modernization, $228.2 million for Pell grant, $591.3 million state budget aid and $6 million for Head Start.
