Members of the U.S. House and Senate and their colleagues-to-be are meeting to choose the next session's leaders and some committee chairmen in closed-door sessions.
The fate of Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman will draw the most scrutiny. The independent angered Democrats by endorsing Republican Senator John McCain for president, and some want to see him stripped of his Homeland Security Committee chairmanship.
In the meantime, five House races and three in the Senate still haven't been decided
