A spokeswoman says Governor Kathleen Sebelius hasn't yet made any plans about filling a coming vacancy in the state treasurer's office.
The vacancy will occur because State Treasurer Lynn Jenkins, a Republican, won the 2nd Congressional District seat in yesterday's election.
State law gives Sebelius, a Democrat, the power to appoint any "suitable person" to serve until Jenkins' four-year term expires in January 2011.
Spokeswoman Nicole Corcoran says Sebelius hasn't had any discussions about possible replacements for Jenkins.
Jenkins was elected treasurer in 2002 and re-elected in 2006. She'll take her seat in Congress in early January.
