Longtime County Commissioner Tim Norton is thrilled that voters have given him a third term in office.

After eight years as Sedgwick County commissioner, Norton celebrates four more years to come, winning more than 60% of the vote over opponent Craig Gabel.

"I'm ready to roll up my sleeves. In fact, they're rolled up right now," said Norton.

Norton's work has focused in part on the Aviation Tech center out at Jabara and finding a parking solution for the Downtown Arena. But he knows there's still a lot of work to be done and he's excited to get started.

"I think there's a lot left to be done in Sedgwick County when you talk about healthcare, tech education, jobs, the economy, watching the budget because these are tough economic times and people need the country to step up and be sure we're sharp with what we do," said Norton.

Gabel, a longtime local businessman, was running on a platform of lower property taxes and less taxpayer incentives for business. Even though he lost he says he will still fight for what he thinks is right.

"I've got plenty to keep my busy. I'm still going to be involved. I may look more like a critic than in a positive aspect, but I'm still going to be involved," said Gabel.
