John McCain is counting on a narrow path to victory over Barack Obama.
With long lines reported as polls opened across the country, the Republican acknowledged during an interview that he's still the underdog.
But he says races in battleground states "have now closed up," and it presents a "good scenario" where he can win.
McCain also framed the situation he's in by saying that it's hard to imagine "the excitement of an individual to be this close to the most important position in the world."
And he said it's something he'll never forget.
