Republican Congressman Todd Tiahrt, the senior member of Kansas' delegation in the House, has won an eighth term.
Tiahrt, from Goddard, faced Democrat Donald Betts, a state senator from Wichita, in the 4th District.
The district includes not only Wichita, the state's largest city, but surrounding counties.
Tiahrt won the seat in 1994 by ousting Democrat Dan Glickman, who'd held it for 18 years but found himself caught in a wave that swept the GOP into a majority that year.
The GOP lost its majority in 2006, but Tihart has won his past three elections with at least 60 percent of the vote.
Still, Betts tried to tie Tiahrt to an unpopular president and paint him as out of touch with his constituents.
