Number Of Mail-In Ballots Rises

In just 15 days, the Sedgwick County Election Commission received 74,000 requests for mail-in ballots. 60,000 were sent out to voters on the first day: October 15th.

Four years ago it received just 17,000 completed mail-in ballots. As of Thursday, workers have received and counted 54,000. That's already a 318% increase. Ballots will keep coming in by mail and by hand until 7 p.m. on election day.

Some voters say mail-in ballots offer them a chance to research all the candidates on their own time.

Sedgwick County Election Commissioner Bill Gale says despite the high numbers, all is running smoothly at ballot headquarters thanks to more than a year of preparation.
