Democratic Senate challenger Jim Slattery says Congress should pass a new economic stimulus package.
He also says that package should invest in improving the nation's roads and bridges and other infrastructure to create jobs.
Slattery is trying to unseat Republican Sen. Pat Roberts.
Roberts spokeswoman Molly Haase says when Congress reconvenes next month, Roberts will consider "every option" for improving the economy and work on a bipartisan plan.
Roberts is seeking his third term in the Senate. Slattery is a former Washington lobbyist and congressman for the 2nd District in eastern Kansas.
