Joe the Plumber may wish he'd never become
famous.
He's the Ohio man who became a symbol of the plight of the small
businessman during last night's debate. He had told Barack Obama
over the weekend that he was planning on buying the plumbing
company where he works, but that he was afraid Obama's tax plan
would cost him more. And much of last night's debate focused on
whether that was the case.
Today, Joe the Plumber -- who's full name is Joe Wurzelbacher --
says he doesn't have a license, and doesn't need one. He says he
works for a small plumbing company that does residential work, and
that because he works for someone else, he doesn't need a license.
But the county that he and his employer live in requires
plumbers to have licenses. And the Lucas County office of building
regulations says neither he nor his employer is licensed there.
