At a news conference Wednesday, Building Trades unions weighed in on the Sedgwick County Commission District 2 and District 3 races.
“Because we represent 10,000 working men and women collectively, it is important to get the word out about this race and about what we believe in – we believe in jobs for this community,” said Richard Taylor.
The combined unions endorsed Marcey Gregory in District 3 and Tim Norton in District 2 as the candidates who could work with the unions, business and people to protect and secure new jobs.
“When people are working, they are paying taxes. Marcy Gregory and Tim Norton are for low taxes and they are for jobs and people,” said Richard Taylor.
In addition, the union group challenged Karl Peterjohn to disclose who has funded the Kansas Taxpayers Network which has employed him for the past 15 years. Information on the primary funders has never been made public.
“We believe Mr. Peterjohn owes it to the voters to release this information,” said Richard Taylor.
The unions also called for Craig Gabel to pay his taxes instead of buying full-page ads in the Eagle explaining why he has not paid his taxes.
