Republican presidential candidate John McCain is expressing concerns about the Bush administration's proposed $700 billion government bailout of U.S. financial markets.

The Arizona senator said Tuesday the legislation must prevent Wall Street executives from winning large taxpayer-funded bonuses and that no earmarks can be included.

McCain stopped short of saying he would vote "no" if his priorities weren't reflected. He said he was confident the final plan would include them.

At his first news conference in weeks, McCain said, "I look forward to personally being involved with my colleagues. I'm getting feedback from them that these are sound and fundamental principles."
