House Race Reversed; Mike Slattery Wins

By: Associated Press Email

Democratic Kansas House candidate Mike Slattery is now the winner of last week's primary against Andy Sandler.

After Johnson County election officials certified results, Slattery was a winner by three votes, compared to a three-vote loss last week. The reversal came after 40 provisional ballots were added.

The 26-year-old Slattery is the son of former Kansas Congressman Jim Slattery, who's running for U.S. Senate in Kansas against incumbent Republican Pat Roberts.

The younger Slattery faces Republican incumbent Ronnie Metsker in the November election.

Sandler has until 5 p.m. today to inform officials that he wants a recount.
