Juice giant Ocean Spray is recalling thousands of pounds of Craisins after some packages were possibly contaminated with small, hairlike metal fragments.

The company announced the voluntary recall of the sweetened dried cranberries Friday.

The recall affects original flavor Craisins in 5-ounce, 10-ounce and 48-ounce packages, as well as bulk-sweetened dried cranberries in 10-pound packages. No other Ocean Spray brand products are affected.

The affected products were not sold in Kansas.

John Isaf, company spokesman, said the small hair-like metal fragments are unlikely to cause consumer injury. The company has not received reports of consumers hurt by the fragments.

Ocean Spray officials said the fragments were caused by an equipment malfunction at one of the firm's cranberry-making facilities.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are urged to destroy the product, save the UPC label and best by date and contact the Ocean Spray Consumer Hotline at 1-800-662-3263 for a coupon replacement.
