The District Attorney's office in Sedgwick County has issued a warning about a new phishing scam prompting several complaints from the community.

The office has received several complaints from area residents about an email they received that claims to be from Amazon. The email appears to be an order for a TV or other item that is being shipped to an address different from that of the recipient, when in fact an order had never been made.

This type of email, known as a phishing scam, is not from Amazon. Scams of this nature are designed to lure customers to click on the link and put in their login and password, allowing scam artists to steal the information or infect computers.

The District Attorney's office is warning residents to refrain from clicking on any link that appears to be suspicious, even if there is no attachment.

For more information, call the Consumer Fraud and Economic Crimes Division of the District Attorney's office at (316) 660-3653 or click on the link below.
