Ratings agency Standard & Poor's says there is a chance that General Electric Co. could lose its coveted Triple-A credit rating in the next two years because of troubles at GE's financing arm.

S&P is lowering its outlook for GE and GE Capital to negative from stable. The ratings agency is also affirming their Triple-A ratings, but says there is a one-in-three chance they could lose them because of the ongoing financial struggles at GE Capital.

GE says in a statement that it has navigated through economic times before and "we will do so again."
