Salina Police say a man who escaped custody is back behind bars.
It began around 4 p.m. Thursday when Saline County deputies took 21 year-old Michael Georage into custody for 5 outstanding warrants. As he was being removed from a home he broke free and tried to escape.
Georage, who was in handcuffs, lost his balance and ran into a utility pole. He was taken to Salina Regional Hospital where he was admitted for observation because it was believed he was under the influence of multiple drugs.
Shortly before 1 o'clock Friday afternoon after Georage was cleared to be released, he escaped as deputies were trying to place him in a transport vehicle. A search began and Georage was found around 2:15, hiding in the attic of a home in the 300 block of S. 5th.
Georage is now facing charges of interference with a law enforcement officer and aggravated escape from custody, in addition to his outstanding warrants. The Saline County Sheriff''s office says the department is now reviewing how it handles certain types of prisoners and they will be making appropriate changes.
