STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Authorities say a woman who initially survived an 11-story fall from a condominium building in Connecticut has died, and they're trying to determine what happened.
Officers and paramedics were called to the building in Stamford on Tuesday evening after the 42-year-old woman fell from her balcony.
Police are investigating whether it was an accident, a suicide attempt or something else. The woman's name hasn't been released.
Building security guard Jelanee Allen told The Advocate of Stamford that he heard the woman scream and it sounded like she fell by accident. He said the woman was conscious and responding to people talking to her after she fell.
Officials say she was brought to Stamford Hospital, where she later died.
Stamford is about 35 miles northeast of New York City.
