WASHINGTON - PERS is shorthand for Personal Emergency Reporting System. Now the government is reporting a recall of products from one manufacturer.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling Linear PERS transmitters. The batteries used in the transmitters can fail to emit a low battery warning, leading users to believe the transmitter is functioning and not generate a warning.
About 200,000 of the transmitters were sold nationwide from June 2008 through July 2011 for about $45.
