WICHITA, Kan. (WBJ) — Archer Western Aviation Partners of Chicago, Ill., has won a $143.7 million contract for work at Wichita’s McConnell Air Force Base that will help get the facility ready to receive the new KC-46A tanker.
According to a posting from the U.S. Department of Defense (first item on the list), the work will involve the construction of of a three-bay general maintenance hangar, two-bay corrosion control and fuel cell hangar, general purpose hangar, and aircraft parking apron.
The work is expected to be complete March 2017.
The work is part of $219 million for projects in fiscal year 2014 that will begin to get McConnell ready to serve as the main operating base of the new Boeing-built tanker.
