The trial for a former Fort Riley soldier charged with killing a member of the Kansas National Guard has been delayed until August.

Jury selection for the first-degree murder trial of 26-year-old Daniel Parker was scheduled to begin Monday in Riley County District Court.

KMAN reports the trial has been continued until Aug. 19. Authorities indicated Monday one of Parker's attorneys, Ron Evans, suffered a medical emergency on Monday.

Parker is charged with killing 21-year-old Frederick Beverly outside a Manhattan motorcycle group's clubhouse on New Year's Day in 2012. Prosecutors say Parker fired from a passing car at the clubhouse after having a disagreement earlier in the night with a member of the club.
