WICHITA, Kan. -- A soldier from Kansas is dead after his patrol was attacked yesterday in Afghanistan.

According to U.S. Senator Jerry Moran, Army Sergeant First Class Forrest W. Robertson, 35, of Westmoreland, Kansas died Sunday in Logar Province, Afghanistan.

Initial reports indicate that SFC Robertson died of injuries sustained when his dismounted patrol received rocket-propelled grenade and small arms fire.

SFC Robertson was assigned to Headquarters Troop, 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia.

“America is forever indebted to Sergeant First Class Forrest Robertson, whose service and sacrifice in defense of his country is immeasurable,” Sen.
