A squadron of fighter planes from Canada will be coming to Kansas in the coming weeks for training.

The 425th Tactical Fighter Squadron from Bagotville, Quebec, is coming later this summer to the Smoky Hill Air National Guard Bombing Range in central Kansas.

About 100 Canadian troops, including 12 CF-18 Hornet pilots, will train along with Army forward air controllers to drop training bombs on the range. The targets will be sea crates and old vehicles.

Pilots will be scored for their accuracy by white smoke and the proximity to targets.

The aircraft will be based at the Salina airport during their stay. The airport is the former Schilling Air Force Base.
