The U.S. Army says two soldiers were killed when a military helicopter crashed at Wheeler Army Airfield in Hawaii.

Officials say the pilots were the only ones aboard the two-seat OH-58D Kiowa Warrior and were conducting a maintenance test flight when the aircraft went down about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The names of the soldiers were not released pending family notification.

The Army is investigating the accident. The helicopter belongs to the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade.

The Federal Aviation Administration says it was not investigating since it involved a military aircraft.
