The U.S. military says two American soldiers have been killed in a suicide attack in Mosul.

Lt. Col. Dave Doherty says the two soldiers were killed Thursday afternoon when a driver detonated a car near a checkpoint. Military officials also say preliminary reports from the scene indicate nine civilians were wounded in the attack.

Also, an Iraqi police station in Fallujah has been leveled and another damaged in suicide car bombings that were apparently coordinated.

Iraqi officials say at least 10 people have been killed and more than 100 wounded. Both bombings happened outside the stations' concrete barriers.

Control of the province where Fallujah is located was turned over by the U.S. three months ago. The city has been relatively peaceful in recent months, but attacks have continued. It's largely sealed off by checkpoints.

In Kirkuk, an American raid aimed at al-Qaida in Iraq has reportedly killed four insurgents. The U.S. military says 16 other people were detained.

Sixteen more people were detained in other operations in Kirkuk and Baghdad.
