Police are searching for suspects after a work trailer was broken into at a northeast Wichita hotel.

The theft was reported at Spring Hill Suites, 1200 N. Greenwich, around 7:40 a.m. Sunday. Authorities said a Texas company that specializes in jet turbine engine repair was staying at the hotel when the crime occurred.

Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police, said the thieves stole several hundred thousands of dollars worth of equipment. He said he believes the suspects may not have known what they were stealing.

“But these are tools that if they are used on a jet engine they have a very specific use,” Nolte said.

The equipment is described as blue, steel tools. Nolte said authorities will be looking for the items to be pawned off at local shops.

Anyone with information in the crime is asked to call 911 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 267-2111.
