Teen Critically Hurt In West Wichita Crash

A teenager was rushed to an area hospital after being critically injured in an accident in west Wichita Monday afternoon.

It happened around 4:45 p.m. on Maize Road near Carr Avenue, just south of Kellogg.

Police say a 15-year-old girl in a red Pontiac Sunfire was turning from Carr Avenue onto Maize Road and failed to yield, pulling in front of a white pickup. The two collided, the force of which pushed both vehicles off to the side of Maize Road.

The teen was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Her name has not been released. The man driving the pickup refused treatment.

Maize Road was closed from Kellogg to Pawnee.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
