A Wichita Public Schools teacher has been placed on administrative leave as the district and Wichita Police investigate an allegation of abuse against a special needs student.
Lieutenant Jeff Weible with the Exploited and Missing Child Unit tells KAKE News that police were made aware of the allegations on Friday. Weible says a relative of a 9 year-old student with a disability accused the teacher of dragging the student across a classroom floor at Gammon Elementary.
A Wichita School district spokeswoman tells KAKE News that the district was made aware of the allegations Saturday.
The teacher, who the district is not identifying, has been placed on administrative leave while detectives look into the accusations to determine whether the alleged abuse too place.
