A woman was critically hurt while swimming at Lake Afton in western Sedgwick County. It happened at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday night.
Officials say the woman, who is in her 20s, was swimming in a designated area on the east side of the lake. She dove into the shallow water and struck her head when she hit the bottom.
The woman was taken to a Wichita hospital by helicopter in critical condition. Her name has not been released.
The accident is under investigation.
