Authorities closed an east Salina neighborhood for several hours due to a standoff.
KSAL reports police and fire units responded to a home in the 2100 block of Brookfield Street just after 9 a.m. Thursday. Officials said that a suicidal person had locked themselves in a room, refusing to come out.
Toxic chemicals inside the home force authorities to block off the area.
The standoff ended around noon, when investigators said the suspect took his own life.
No names have been released.
Saline County Coroner has ordered an autopsy.
