UPDATE: Sunday January 20, 2013

Wichita Police say a man is now in stable condition after he was shot in east Wichita.

It happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. in the 800 block of S. Pershing. Lt. Sam Hanley said at the scene that the man had gone outside of the house to retrieve some property and when he returned, he had a gunshot wound to the buttocks.

He was taken to the hospital by EMS, originally in critical condition, but is now expected to be okay. Police are working to locate up to 4 possible suspects.

Wichita Police are investigating a shooting that happened Sunday afternoon in East Wichita.

Officers were called to the scene shortly before 3:30 where they found a man with a gunshot wound to the buttocks. He was taken by EMS to the hospital in potentially critical condition.

Police are interviewing neighbors and speaking to a witness inside of the home to try to determine what lead up to the shooting. KAKE News has a crew on scene and we will have more information as soon as it becomes available.
