You know, the biggest stigma is that greyhounds are abused and mistreated. I would love for anyone who thinks this, to just visit any of the number of good greyhound kennels. Yes, there are always gonna be a few that give the industry a bad name, but most greyhounds are treated better than most house pets. Fed great food and given plenty of shelter. If you beat a greyhound or abuse it, good luck getting it to run. Horse racing is more abusive than greyhound racing. If a greyhound doesn't want to run, trust me, it won't. They are born to run and do it because they like to run. 4-7 days between races is hardly running them to exhaustion. And trainers don't put a monkey on the dogs back to beat them around the track. Jobs and entertainment is what this is about. No different than any casino.

having to send there dogs to florida and west virginia to race tells me there isnt much interest or money in dog racing

I sure hope this goes through this time. I am a woman and me and my boyfriend went at least once a week to the dog races. It was actually funny to watch some of the dogs. Some had very amusing habits after the race. One would run and jump into the handlers arms at the end of every race he was in and about knocked a few one their behinds,I think that was Spaceman Biff.(?)

I hope it does make it through senate and they let us vote on it cause i guarantee you that it would pass this time... I myself don't care about going to the greyhound park don't care about watching dog racing and if i want to gamble i'll go play blackjack at one of the casino's. But i do want it to get passed because that means 500 more people will have jobs that are currently barely hanging out. and it will bring alot of money into our economy. with the new wording on the ballot it will pass no doubt.

Whatever happened to the fact that Nevada was the only state that gambling or whatever would be legal? All of the issues around this stuff just keeps growing and growing in this country. It would be nice for a change, to get back to the right and decent realities of what is really going on with the promotion and undertaking of the spread of these things! Never will I make a statement under the hidden agenda of "Anonymous"!

great, another place to throw away your cash, more cruelty to animals, and a few minimum wage jobs

Gee I am willing to bet this group is all men, men who have no life other than watching dogs be abused and ran to exhaustion, here's a thought how about the members of that group go out to the racetrack and run around the track and let people bet on them and let's see how they feel when they are tired and exhausted, maybe they would think twice...animal abusers that get amusement out of watching that kind of thing, animal abuse at it's finest.

Good, I hope this passes this time. I always had fun at the dog tracks. I could spend an entire evening out there being entertained, compared to an hour or so at the new casino. Lets do this.

I have no problem with allowing slots but why should it be at the tracks only. Why not let any business that wants them be allowed. Many small businesses state wide are struggling to stay afloat and this could save many. Under my proposal more jobs could be added or saved than the 500. The dog racing part to me is a non issue because it is proven that it can't stand on its own. To all of you who cry about the casino being voted down in town here is the chance to get gambling in the heart of Wichita and to benefit many Wichita businesses not just making one wealthy man even richer.

I'm sure it will help the local economy but its to close. Mulvane is to close for my wife. She goes to mulvane to many times and never wins.

More slots, more gambling, more jobs, more losers, more winners too. How can it be a bad thing?
