A northeast Kansas medical relief group is preparing to send help to tornado-stricken Alabama.
Heart to Heart International says a shipment of aid will leave Friday for a free clinic in Montgomery. The nonprofit has sent aid two other times to the Southeast in the past week as severe weather hit the region.
The latest round of tornadoes and violent storms have killed at least 280 people across six states — more than two-thirds of them in Alabama.
Heart to Heart regularly ships large amounts of medical supplies and personnel to disaster zones in the U.S. and abroad. In the past 18 months the Olathe-based group has responded to the earthquakes in Haiti and Japan.
