A Wichita man has his dog back home, less than an hour after a story about the dog's disappearance aired.

Chris Howell called KAKE News and told us his dog, Harmony, was returned less than an hour after the story aired Tuesday at 10:00 p.m.

Howell said the person who picked up Harmony off the driveway thought it looked homeless.

Three days before Christmas, Chris Howell's scooter disappeared from his home in Riverside.

"I left it unlocked for one day. In that one day, somebody came along, opened up that gate, and walked off with my scooter," Howell said.

Because of the stolen scooter, and a few other previous incidents, Howell decided it was time to put in surveillance cameras.

Thanks to his friends at True Surveillance, those cameras were installed the next week.

"They were literally just fine-tuning and focusing the camera that's on the back of the house when this happens," he said.

Howell's 10-year-old Jack Russell Terrier named Harmony, who sneaked out of the fenced-in yard, was captured by a man.

The video catches is all, just before 2:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve day.

In the video, you can see the red car pull up along 13th street. The passenger gets out of the car, and walks toward the driveway, where Harmony was standing.

"There he goes. He casually has my dog under his arm, like he found his dog," Howell said, describing the video.

The video shows the man walking back to the car, he gets inside, and the car takes off.

"Less than two minutes and he was gone," said Howell.

Neither Animal Control nor the Humane Society have received a dog matching Harmony's description.

Wichita Police say they are reviewing the case and the video.

Howell says he is hopeful they will see Harmony again.

"We would just like to get our dog back, or at least know that she's safe," said Howell.

Howell says he is glad his family decided to install True Surveillance cameras; especially just in time to capture the incident on video.
