A Wichita grandfather has been banned from YMCA youth sports after being accused of shoving an official during the game.
Wichita Police are now investigating the incident that happened over the weekend at the Farha Center in South Wichita.
"We had a gentleman who got a little excited and took action." says Catherine Seals, who works at the center. Witnesses say the man yelled at the official throughout the first half and then marched onto the court at half time where he pushed the referee.
"He did make contact with the ref and that's when he was removed at the point."
The YMCA says it has a zero-tolerance for excessive yelling or cussing during games by parents, fans, coaches or kids. The police report of the incident indicates the man was carried outside by fans.
Seals says the man understood that he was banned from the facility and didn't fight back. The official was not hurt.
Police say the grandfather could face charges.
