Firefighters from five Kansas counties, along with rural volunteer firefighters were called to battle a blaze in downtown Ellsworth.
The fire broke out at the VFW, 109 N. Main, around 5 a.m. Friday. KSAL reports the building was fully involved when crews arrived on scene.
The fire was under control by around 7:30 a.m. A couple of nearby buildings sustained water and smoke damage. No one was hurt.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
