The Sedgwick County District Attorney ruled Wichita Police officers were justified when they shot and killed a local woman in July, 2012.

Karen Jackson was shot to death at a home at 708 N. Spruce on July 10th. Police responded to a domestic disturbance call.

The report shows Karen Jackson came to the door holding a butcher knife. Both officers retreated. Jackson began stabbing herself with the knife and yelling at the officers to shoot her. The report shows Jackson started moving towards the officers. Both officers fired shots at her, striking Jackson four times.

Toxicology reports show Jackson's blood alcohol level was .28%. .08 is considered legally drunk. She also tested positive for by-products of a prescription anti-depressant.

The report states, "Officers 1 and 2 both believed Jackson posed an imminent threat to the life and safety of themselves and each other. The officers both fired to stop the threat posed by her advance toward them with a deadly weapon."
