A home near Augusta was damaged in a fire late Wednesday afternoon. Crews were called to the 12600 block of SW Thunder Rd. just after 5:00 p.m.
Heavy smoke was visible when firefighters arrived on scene. Fire caused significant damage to an outer wall and the attic.
No one was in the home when it caught fire. Two cats were found alive and are now in the care of the homeowner's family.
The cause is under investigation. A damage estimate has not been determined.
