One man suffered minor injuries after driving a sport utility vehicle into a northeast Wichita home.
It happened just after 6 p.m. Wednesday in the 1500 block of North Fairmount Street.
Authorities on scene say a 27-year-old man was driving at a high rate of speed and hit the home after failing to make a curve in the road.
"A vehicle had been eastbound, failed to negotiate a curve and went up in the yard and struck the house," Wichita Police Sgt. Don Story said.
He says it appears that the driver did not stop at a nearby stop sign, but the investigation is ongoing.
Keturah Smith and her two kids had just gotten home when they heard a loud "boom."
"It sounded like a bomb," she said. "The lights flickered and everything jumped off the walls."
Smith ran outside to check on the driver of the SUV and then called 911. No one in the home was hurt.
The Red Cross was called in to assist the family.
The accident is under investigation.
