Tiller Absent for Hearing Amid Security Concerns

Dr. George Tiller stayed out of court today as his attorneys tried to get the 19 misdemeanor counts thrown out.
His attorneys cited security concerns as to why he was absent.
Sedgwick County District Judge Anthony Powell will decide whether a state law restricting late-term abortions is constitutional.
Dr. George Tiller's attorneys are challenging the law.
Attorney General Paul Morrison has charged the Wichita abortion
provider with 19 misdemeanors. He alleges Tiller violated the law because he didn't get a second opinion from an independent doctor
before performing late-term abortions in 2003.
Powell had an hour-long hearing Friday on the law's constitutionally, but he doesn't plan to rule until at least early next month.
