The man convicted of murdering a Kansas abortion provider shows little sympathy for the doctor's family in a YouTube tape that marks his first public comments since his trial.

The 10-minute recording of Scott Roeder's conversation with abortion opponent Dave Leach was posted on YouTube by the Iowa activist as the first part of a planned series.

In the tape, Roeder likens Dr. George Tiller's survivors to the family of a hit man.

Roeder was convicted in January of first-degree murder for shooting Tiller last May 31 at the doctor's Wichita church. He also was convicted of aggravated assault for threatening two ushers with a gun.

Roeder testified that he shot Tiller. In the video, he says his motive was that the lives of unborn children were being taken.
