Four universities in Kansas are collaborating on research into climate change and energy use in the state.
The $20 million project is being funded through the National Science Foundation.
Engineers, scientists and social scientists from the University of Kansas, Kansas State, Wichita State and Haskell Indian Nations University will work together.
The goals include creating a model to predict the climate years from now, positive changes farmers might make and the use of nanotechnology in solar power. Researchers also will examine the impact of climate change and energy issues on American Indian lands.
