What? Sounds like they're on the same lines as Hawker Beech. Little training, finger pointing, the best thing about Piper is going to be NON Union! I expect to see every aircraft company here lose the union too

Wow, after reading some of the comments it sounds like they're a bad company to work for.

Make sure before you move to Vero Beach that Piper will indeed hire you. I have seen people arrive in Vero Beach only to have their job offer retracted without any notice. The training at the plant is poor at best. Yet, they are quick to point fingers when someone improperly completes a job they were not trained for. PIper recently laid off 550 workers. It would be nice to see them rehire some of these people prior to Searching out of state. Engineers were included in the last downsizing. Piper's management seems to focus on overtime rather than correcting quality issues. Vero Beach is mainly a retirement community. if you lose your job at Piper, prepare to move to another city.

Chuckl doesn't seem to know that Florida has more white trash per capita than Kansas does.

Piper is hiring experienced aircraft engineers. They are primarily looking for airframe, a&e, systems, flight controls, aero, and mass. If you aren't in one of those, go ahead and send your resume in just in case.

For all the "nay sayers" in Wichita. You have some of the most highly skilled workers in the aircraft industry right their. Unfortunately, the current economic down turn has so many laid off. I'm an A & P mechanic with a bachelors degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Here in Florida, we are starting to rehire. Pay may not be as great you think it is in Wichita, but it's comparable. Florida is a right to work state and unions yield little power, but we've seen workers drop Wichita in a heartbeat. Many say, "It was a good job but it was in Wichita. You know, "the sticks", the buckle of the midwestern Bible belt where you can't teach evolution." Some of you may like working there, but an awful lot of people seem to do it only because it was a paycheck, not for the community.

the reason they are in wichita is because nobody in florida can stand working for them. the pay stinks, there is no training, and the leadership is even worse. the only thing they have to offer is vero beach. be warned.

Cliff, You have to have experience in Aircraft, if not you our out of luck even if you have experience as a Manufacturing Engineer.

my laid off engineer husband just left the state today to work elsewhere because Wichita does not have jobs....what a shame.

Laid Off Worker, read the article, they are looking for experienced engineers.

All we hear is about laid off aircraft workers. What about the other people in Wichita, that are manufacturing engineers that have been laid off. Do we always have to cater just to one group of people!!! Why don't you bring in more companies for these people also!!!!
