Wednesday was Exploration Day at Garden City Community College, and that means a big learning experience for students in Western Kansas.

More than a dozen high schools participated in the real-life experience. The day gave high school students an inside look into professions they are interested in.

Garden City police officers talked to juniors and seniors about careers in law enforcement. Meanwhile, off to the side was a group interested in TV journalism. In one building, current college students were showing high schoolers some of the cool things they work with in forensic science.

Those were just a small portion of careers that were being demonstrated around campus. Regardless of what students were interested in, the benefits were endless.

"It's been a really informational day and has been fun so far," says one student from Deerfield High School. "This might be the career I go into now because they're showing me around and giving me information."

Everyone agreed they came away from today with a brand new knowledge and understanding that will help them in the future.
