Frank, I think you've pretty well hit the nail on the head. There are lots of "wingnuts" in this area and not just on the baseball field. Our Congressional delegation is your proof.
From most of the comments below it would appear that Mr. Roeder is not the only crazy Anti-choice person in Wichita. Anybody that thinks that his actions were acceptable are just as crazy as he is.
Murder is such an ugly term. Lets call it justifiable homicide.
Let's face it, everyone has there beliefs, which they are entitled to, but they do not have the right to murder someone else. Roeder murdered Dr. Tiller with no remorse. Abortion is a very touchy subject, and everyone understands this, but this does not give the right for Roeder to murder Dr. Tiller. Dr. Tiller was only doing his job, which was legal not illegal. If you have a problem with abortion contact your mayor, congressman, senator, or governor of your state. If abortion was illegal in this state and Roeder murdered Dr. Tiller, Roeder would still be prosecuted as a murderer, because it's the law. I do not forsee Roeder getting any self pitty from the Judge or Jury on his actions. The law is the law and once you break it your going to get caught one way or the other. Everyone is accountable for their actions good or bad, even if you think they are for good intentions.
LOL....21 SIGNATURES. It's life's little achievements huh? I hope Roeder rots. And that's sticking to the article. My opinions, much like all of yours, have already been slopped around here "pro choice" "pro-life" does it really matter? He confessed to shooting someone. That's illegal. Abortions are not illegal. If you don't agree, than do something about it rather than leave ridiculous comments.
his defence is the same as the one that suicide bombers use. if you want to use that defence, you might as well allow the suiciders to do their thing also. the end does not justify the means.
I think it would be interesting if this goes to trial & he is found innocent because of the necessity defense & that life begins at conception. Would that make all you "pro-choice" murderers, accessories to murder?
If that defense is logical, then we should shoot the mother before she has the abortion in order to protect the unborn. Makes as much sense!
Greg-are you ok with aborting a baby before his/her due date? An abortion dr admitted on tape to doing this. Most prolifers are post abortive women. They realize the trauma & pain abortion has caused them.
Some food for though folks: Roeder murdered a man in a church, nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't matter why, because there is the same result (murder). For the folks who keep mentioning being a Christian and the bible, he's another idea: Muslims justify killing with the koran (their version of the bible). Having said that, are Muslim extremests justified for what they do also? I also have a question for you Christian folks: Doesn't Jesus forgive you for you sins? As a Catholic, we don't agree with abortion, but if one goes through with it, and feels remorse in her heart, she can be forgiven. Let's face it folks, there is no person who has not at one time or another sinned.
Greg....I haven't heard you condem the murder of the prolifer who was shot & killed recently by someone who disagreed with the sign he was carrying. Where is your outrage? Holleigh, my point exactly...you never heard about it. But, the leaders in the proabortion movement did and there wasn't any outrage. Many leaders in that movement blamed prolifers for Roeder's evil act but yet when the shoe is on the other foot, they kept their mouths shut. Can't have it both ways. BTW, I fully and completely condem the cold blooded murder of Tiller. I thought what Tiller did was evil, but you cannot replace evil with evil. It was wrong & Scott Roeder deserves nothing less than life in prison.
Less than a year ago, I was a fierce defender of the right to choose. I used the same defenses many of you have used to defend our individual rights. I have had a dramatic change of heart in the last year. I know that there isn't anything I can ever say that can convince another person that abortion is wrong. I can only stand up in my own little way and say that "for me", I see it as murder of an innocent life. But I also condemn Dr. Tiller's murder. Roeder is just as guilty in my eyes as Dr. Tiller. Having said that please understand, I in no way condone Dr. Tiller's murder. Murder is murder. Nor would I condone Roeder being put to death. Its a vicious circle of killing. I do believe in God. I have to wonder how God can believe in us, the human race.
It would be nice to see the religious right forcefully condemn this type of atrocity. Instead, they try to make excuses or rationalize this type of religious terrorism. Abortion is a woman's personal medical decision that shouldn't be interfered with by a the lunatic fringe or the Kansas GOP (but they're one in the same).
Roeder is nothing more than a "christian" terrorist, hiding behind the bible, as many do. Dr. Tiller was providing a legal, compassionate service. He was the true Christian.
All those who blamed pro-lifers for this mans actions fell silent ?? More like maybe there should have been more media coverage on the pro-lifer being shot, I never heard anything about it. I do know that I wish I had the time to stand on a street corner with a poster of an aborted fetus supporting a cause/belief when all it's really doing is making people think ' wow, get.a.life ' Abortion may be wrong, but it's legal, that is the bottom line. The people with the signs/protests just look ignorant. But God bless our troops dying for the right of free speech. We don't have to agree on everything, but the freedom to choose what to believe is something we should all be thankful for.
