Area police are noticing a new trend among drivers and they don't like what they see.
Street racing is a growing danger on Wichita streets-- threatening participants, motorists and spectators. At least 6 deaths have been linked to street racing over the last year.
To solve this problem police are promoting a new program to encourage young people to take the illegal sport to the track.
It's part of the national ``Beat the Heat'' program. Young
racers are encouraged to come to their local tracks to race against
a car prepared by police officers.
Instead of saying, "Don't race,'' police are saying: "Do it
legally."
