Hutch Explosions Lawsuit

It was an explosion that shook Hutchinson to its core, and left two people dead. Now, the lawsuit is in the hands of the jury.

Jurors deliberated all afternoon but didn't come to any conclusion.
Jay Fowler is the lead attorney for the plaintiffs, Hay's Sight and Sound and Decor Party Supplies. They claim that in January of 2001 a gas explosion which later led to the destruction of their buildings was caused by ONEOK's natural gas facility at Yaggy Field, which is 7 miles northwest of Hutchinson.

Fowler says ONEOK was irresponsible by letting 143 million cubic feet of natural gas leak under Hutch. ONEOK has said in the past it doubts the leak came from Yaggy Field and it denies all other accusations.

The two businesses are seeking almost 2 million dollars in damages. The jury must decide if ONEOK's actions caused the damage.
