2-9-07 - The death of an Arkansas City College student has sparked action in the Kansas legislature. Arkansas City Representative Kasha Kelly introduced an anti-stalking bill earlier this week hoping to tighten the laws.

Last month, 19-year-old Jodi Sanderholm was kidnapped and murdered in Ark City. The man accused of her murder, Justin Thurber, had been accused of stalking other women and had restraining orders against him when he allegedly killed Jodi.

With Jodi in mind, Kelly introduced a bill into the House that would increase the severity level for stalkers. The bill would put the crime of stalking at a higher level and would require longer sentences.
