Driver, Passenger Escape Serious Injury After Crash

Wichita police say two men are lucky to have escaped without critical injuries after their car crashed head-on into a large tree overnight.
The crash happened about 4:00 Saturday morning in the 2900 block of Woodland in North Wichita.
Sgt. Ed Brower of the Wichita Police Department said the car was traveling at a high rate of speed before the accident. Video of the car showed its front end wrapped around the tree, with its tail lights appearing to be the only discernible parts left.
Brower said officers were actually down the street responding to another call when they heard the crash.
Emergency crews pulled the the driver and a passenger to safety. Police say both victims are men in their mid-twenties.
Brower said the men were taken to Via Christi St. Francis Hospital with non-critical injuries.
