No word yet on whether a fatal shooting in North Carolina has anything to do with a series of killings in South Carolina.

South Carolina agents traveled to Gastonia, N.C. after a man suspected of trying to burglarize a home was shot to death by police early today.

Gastonia is located about 30 miles from the Gaffney, S.C. area, where five people were shot to death over a six-day period.

The serial killer suspect is believed to be driving a champagne-colored Ford SUV, and the same make and color vehicle was at the North Carolina shooting.

Authorities say the slain man first gave a fake name to officers. They say he then pulled a gun on them when they tried to arrest him.

The suspect was killed and an officer was shot in the foot, but is expected to recover.
